For Valentine's weekend, Drew and I took a trip to the UP. We went to Mount Bohemia... the promotional video for Mount Bohemia is so bizarre... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Zf9VXkCpRjk
Needless to say, the video had me a little worried. On the way up we were amazed by how much snow the "snow belt" has. They are at about 170 inches this year. At the gas stations, we were far more likely to see snowmobiles than cars. I particularly loved it when someone pulled up in that little number with the snow tracks.
We lost service on our cell phones about an hour before we even made it to Mount Bohemia, which is truly off the beaten path! We loved Mount Bohemia, none of the runs are groomed and there was plenty of "pow" to keep us happy. As all the runs are black diamond, double black diamond or triple black diamond, I was a little nervous most of the time but I made it out in one piece! The main chalet is a string of three yurts linked together, it is so unique!
We also enjoyed a nice long xc ski on the Snake River in Duluth and stopped to play on the icy shores of Lake Superior. Thought I'd share the pics!
